Life in a Day

Last Tuesday, Google announced a social film making 24-hour project for YouTube users called “Life in a Day”– the criteria to take a part is, capture the best memorable moments of your life on camera filmed on July 24, 2010 and upload these moments to YouTube.

Life in a Day project is Sponsored by LG Electronics. But the best part is, all YouTube users are supposed to submit their videos for absolutely free and also they have no need to spend a lot of money to make their memories, work or events into a final video .

Kevin Macdonald, director of “One Day in September” will fine-tune the most compelling footage into a documentary movie executive-produced by Ridley Scott (director of Gladiator and Black Hawk Down). The footage will be shown at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and all the supporters who makes it into final cut will be awarded as co-director and 20 of them will be invited to attend the premiere.

If you want to take part, Here is something which you really should do:

  1. Go to Life in a Day channel and see the sample videos for inspirational thoughts.
  2. On July 24, capture your day on camera.
  3. Upload your footage to the “Life in a Day” channel any time before July 31.

Don’t be dishearted if your video doesn’t  shaped into final film by the directors, the Google blog post explains that everyone’s important! “Regardless of whether your footage makes it into the final film, your video(s) will live on on the “Life in a Day” channel as a time capsule that will tell future generations what it was like to be alive on July 24, 2010,” Posted by Tim Partridge , Product Marketing Manager.

This is so cool. I’m thinking about participating but haven’t decided whether or not to yet. Either way I’m excited to see the page once people start putting up their videos.

  4. The Internet is like alcohol in some sense. It accentuates what you would do anyway. If you want to be a loner, you can be more alone. If you want to connect, it makes it easier to connect.
